'L2: Empuran or Lucifer2: Empuraan' is one of the most awaited releases of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. The film is the standalone sequel to the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time, Lucifer. The latter was released in 2019 and rocked the box office like never before. 

L2: Empuraan Star Cast

The film will have Manju Warrier as the main lead actress opposite Mohanlal, it will also have Sachin Khedekar, Fazil, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith Sukumar reprising their roles from the earlier release.

Note that, Prithviraj made his directorial debut through Lucifer, and he is also donning the director's hat for its sequel Empuraan.

L2: Empuraan Shooting Started

Of late, the Malayalam industry has been witnessing great success at the box office. With the films like Romancham, 2018, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hai went on to churn out moolah beyond the boundaries. 

The industry is now all set to witness another highly anticipated movie in the form of Prithviraj's directorial Empuraan. The film has been generating so much buzz ever since it was announced. 

It went on floors on Oct 5, Thursday with Mohanlal, Prithviraj, producer Permabavoor and writer Gopi commencing the shoot. 

Reportedly, most part of the shooting will take place in foreign locations. In India, the major part of the shooting will take place in Kerala, Mumbai and Hyderabad. 

L2: Empuraan Release Date & Budget

 The filming for the L2: Empuraan has just started. Therefore, there is no announcement regarding its release date yet, however, makers will be hoping to release the movie in mid-2024. 

The reports also read that Empuraan will be a pan-India movie and made on a budget of over 400 crores, however, the exact figures haven't been announced yet. It will be released in all five Indian languages Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. 

Recently makers also launched a promo for the return of the Mohanlal on the Aashirvad Cinemas YouTube channel. 

Mohanlal's Big Decision

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, will not commit to any new venture before he concludes the

filming of the Empuraan, which is a major decision as it will be the first time where the superstar will focus on one project at a time, as reported by the news portals earlier.
