After a two-year post-doctoral stint (1998-1999) at the Department of Biochemistry at Cambridge, Anand returned to India and joined Intl. Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Delhi as a Staff Research Scientist where he oversaw his lab for 16 years.
He joined the special centre for Molecular Medicine, JNU in 2015 as an associate professor and became a full professor in 2019. His lab works in the field of Directed evolution and Pathogenesis with a special focus on Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Apart from this, Ranga often appears on Tv debates over national issues. His "30 sec more please' in the debates has made him very famous.
