Warwick Thornton, Samson and Delilah fame, a director, cinematographer and screenwriter. He was born on July 23, 1970, to Freda Glynn in Alice Springs, Australia. He did his schooling at Selvado College, New Norcia, Western Australia. 

He gained his graduation degree from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in cinematography.

Warwick Thornton Family

Thornton married filmmaker Beck Cole in 1999, and they have a daughter named Luka May (actress). After being in a relationship for almost 18 years, they separated in 2017.

Thornton's daughter Rona is from an earlier relationship and a son Dylan River, who is also a filmmaker.

Warner Thornton started his filmmaking journey in short films and documentaries while simultaneously working as a cinematographer in feature films and documentaries. 

Samson and Delilah was his first feature film which came in 2009 and won several accolades including
Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2009. 


So far, he has directed five films, one documentary (We Don't Need a Map), one documentary series (The Beach) and a TV series (Mystery Road Series 2).

His feature films include Samson and Delilah (2009), Art+Soul (2010), The Darkside (2013), Sweet Country (2017), Firebite (2021), and The New Boy (2023).
